Privacy Notice

This notice explains what personal information Jaricon collects through jaricon.co.za, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated: 8 October 2026.

Who we are

Jaricon (Pty) Ltd (“Jaricon”, “we”) is a Claris FileMaker developer based in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

This notice covers jaricon.co.za and the enquiries people send us through it. It does not cover the systems we build for clients, which are governed by each client’s own agreement with us.

For anything about your personal information, contact our Information Officer:

What we collect

The enquiry form does not store your IP address. To block automated spam, the site keeps a scrambled, non-reversible version of the sending address for ten minutes and then discards it.

We do not knowingly collect special personal information (such as health or biometric information) or information about children through this website. Please do not include other people’s personal or patient records in an enquiry.

Why we use it and who receives it

We use your enquiry details to reply to you, to understand what you need, and to prepare a proposal if you ask for one. We keep a record of the conversation so we can pick it up later. We use website statistics to see which pages and adverts are useful and to improve the site.

We rely on your consent when you send us an enquiry, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business for the website statistics.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. It is handled only by Jaricon and by the service providers that run the tools we use:

Google and Meta store information on servers outside South Africa. We use them on their standard terms, which commit them to protecting the information they handle.

We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.

Cookies and measurement

The website works without cookies, but three measurement tools run on it and set cookies in your browser.

ToolWhat it is for
Google AnalyticsCounts visits and shows which pages people read and where they came from
Google Ads tagRecords when a visit that started from one of our adverts leads to an enquiry, and tells Google that a browser has visited our site
Burst StatisticsKeeps page-view statistics on our own website

None of these tools receives the name, email address, phone number or message you type into the enquiry form.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings, and the site will still work. To opt out of Google Analytics on every site, use Google’s opt-out add-on. To control the adverts Google shows you, use My Ad Centre.

How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep an enquiry for 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete it from the website and from our mailbox. If you become a client, we keep the records the law requires us to keep, such as invoices, for as long as it requires.

Backup copies of the website are replaced on a rolling basis, so a deleted enquiry disappears from backups as older copies are overwritten. Google Analytics keeps website usage data for no longer than 14 months.

To protect your information:

  • The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), so what you type into the form is encrypted on its way to us.
  • Saved enquiries are visible only to the website’s administrators. They are not public, not searchable and not available to other visitors.
  • Access to the website, mailbox and backups is limited to Jaricon.

If a security breach ever affects your personal information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us, at no charge, to:

  • tell you whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy of it;
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your information;
  • stop using your information, or withdraw a consent you gave us.

Email info@jaricon.co.za and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm that the request really comes from you before we act on it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
